The Verse and Prose Competition

On Thursday 12 December, 22 pupils in the Prep School participated in the annual Verse and Prose Competition. One pupil from each class recited a poem while another read and performed a prose extract. All pupils who took part had already been selected from in-class competitions and so had done very well to reach the final.

There was a wide selection of poetry and prose performed to a very high standard. Poems ranged from Kipling’s A Smuggler’s Song to one about how to deal with an itch on your back, to another about making a stew out of me! The prose featured texts by ever-popular authors including JRR Tolkien and Roald Dahl.

Well done to our final winners:

Year Three Verse and Prose – Diggory

Year Four Verse – Oliver

Year Four Prose – Edward

Year Five Verse – Kit

Year Five Prose – Charlie

Year Six Verse – Elena

Year Six Prose – Charlotte

Many congratulations to all the participants, who spoke clearly, expressively, and with wonderful communication.
