Truro Under 12s travelled to Tavistock on Saturday to play Mount Kelly. Bowling first on a poor wicket, Truro contained Kelly to 114 for 9 off 25 overs with the pick of the bowlers being Toby with 3 for 21 off 5 overs and was backed up well by Ben, Sam, Ben and George. Truro’s fielding was superb throughout, typified by two outstanding catches by Ben.
In reply, Truro’s top order failed to make an impression as county players Toby and Ben were out cheaply due largely to the very unpredictable bounce on the wicket. A good partnership between Ben (11) and Sammy (44) put Truro in a good position to win but when Sam was out late in the innings, the task became more difficult. Truro lost their last wicket on the first ball of the last of the 25 overs, needing just 3 runs to win at 112 all out.
For the second successive game the side has been engaged in a thrilling climax, but again failed to cross the line and win the tight encounter.
