Under 12 Football Team bow out of the National Cup at the Quarter Final stage

Truro School Under 12 Football team hosted St Bernard’s Roman Catholic Grammar School from Slough in London in the Quarter Final of the ESFA Small Schools Cup on Monday 16 May.
There was little to chose between the two sides in the early part of the match before Joe Moran followed up his own header that was saved from a corner to put the school ahead midway through the first half. Truro came out aggressively in the second half and were denied two excellent chances in the opening 10 minutes as Isaac Murray hit the post and a Joe Moran effort was superbly saved by St Bernard’s impressive goalkeeper.
The St Bernard’s strikers were always a threat and the visitors pulled a goal back midway through the half. They were then quickly awarded a penalty to give them a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes to go. Truro came back strongly and were also awarded a penalty in the dying minutes that would have taken the game into extra time, but unfortunately was missed.
The Truro boys have been great ambassadors for the school on this journey through the cup, playing with great determination, resilience, teamwork and skill and are a side that show great potential for the future.
