Truro School vs Penair School – Rounders Match Report

Truro School Vs Penair School

Under 12’s: Won 4-2

Many Truro players were unavailable due to satellite netball trials which gave a lot of other pupils a chance to play in a competitive fixture. Penair had to leave early due to the trials and therefore we only played one innings. The rain came down and conditions were not ideal nevertheless the Truro pupils battled on batting first. Penair fielded well and kept us to just 4 rounders – all of these half rounders. Penair had a few good batters but Truro also fielded well, Rosie taking 2 fine catches to keep them to just 2 rounders. Another win. Well done to all the girls.

Under 13’s: Lost 9 ½ – 12

The second years lost out to Penair from making some inappropriate fielding decisions allowing Penair to score more half rounders than necessary. The conditions were challenging and this may account for the mis-fielding that occurred. Mary bowled consistently throughout the match which is key to ensuring half rounders are not scored through ‘no balls’.

Under 14’s: Won 15-11 ½

The Under 14’s maintained their unbeaten record this week when they faced their closest rivals Penair. Having lost the toss the team, captained by Abby, batted first. The first innings were very close, with both teams batting and fielding well; only half a rounder separated the two teams at half time. The girls needed to bat well and add to their tally in the second batting innings. They rose to this challenge with Amelia, Lily and Alice striking particularly well. Their final fielding innings saw some great team work, Charlotte and Courtney worked fantastically together as backstop and first base getting a number of the Penair team out in their first bat. The deeps fielded well and the Penair rounder’s were kept to a minimum. The last bit of action saw Anais with a superb catch and the girls were elated to win.

Under 15’s: Won 11 ½ – 7 ½
Congratulations to the Under 15’s team who won a hard fought game.
