Truro School Fencing Success

This weekend saw a number of Truro School pupils competing in Manchester, Bedford and Wellington. The success of the previous weekend was followed by further Truro School domination.

At the Bedford U20 sabre GB circuit event, Caitlin Maxwell followed up her Senior win at Hamlet the previous weekend with a gold, with Maria Chart 5th and Millie Smith 11th. In the Men’s event, Will Deary defeated an old nemesis to take U20 Gold winning the final 15-14. Jamie Craze finished an excellent 16th with Will Hosking 24th, Josh Maxwell 29th and Alex Boote 49th. This bodes very well for the first foreign U17 international next weekend in Godollo.

Our epeeists travelled to Manchester for the first European Circuit epee international of the season. After weeks out with injury – and a last minute declaration of fitness by the physio – Charles Dean fought through a slow start to improve as the day went on, finishing in 3rd place. Toby Harvey and Conall Cromie finished 45th and 46th respectively.

The younger fencers travelled to Wellington for the latest LPJS event. In the U13 sabre event, Bertie Holdsworth finished 1st with Molly Wood taking bronze. In the U11 event Henry Hurst also claimed bronze. Eoghan Cromie competed in two events on the day and claimed gold in both the U13 and U15 foil events.
