Truro School: Best Mathematicians in the County

Last month, the Truro School Senior Maths Challenge team took part in the regional final of the UKMT Senior Team Maths Challenge. This Sixth Form competition tests mathematical, communication and teamwork skills.

The team, comprising of D. Yau, R. Cherry, H. Heard and S. Kitching, were placed as the top Cornish team beating schools and colleges from across the county.

Judith Eastburn, Teacher of Maths at Truro School, said: “Our students did extremely well and were excellent ambassadors as always.”

They narrowly missed the top prize and a trip to the national final in London, when they were nudged into second place by a school from the Exeter area.

R. Cherry said: “The day went well and I was really pleased to a part of it. Thank you to Mrs Eastburn for all her help.”
