Truro School at the Cross Country Cup

Monday 6 October saw the start of the Cross Country season with the England Schools Association Cross Country Cup at Newquay Sports Centre.

On a windy but sunny day, the races started with the junior girls who performed admirably coming a creditable 4th position only 4 points from 3rd place, which would have qualified them for the regional round to be held in November. The team was led home by Scarlet coming in 9th, Freya 12th, Rosie 25th, Lily 27th, Daisy 32nd and Maddie 35th. The junior boys (pictured) put in a fantastic individual and team performance with Harris winning the race with twin brother Elliot coming in 3rd, Sam and Benjy came in 9th and 10th respectively, Will 16th and Tom 42nd. They scored 23 points and were overall winners of the competition.

The Intermediate girls’ team was hit by injury and unavailability but the 4 girls ran really well with Emily coming 3rd Maddie 14th, Kathryn 19th and Natasha 23rd and the team qualified for the next round as the 3rd placed team. The final race of the day saw Finn storm home to a fantastic win in the Intermediate boys’ race. He was ably supported by Ben 12th, Alex 14th, Fred 17th, Luke 19th and Oliver 27th. The Intermediate boys’ team came in 2nd place, also qualifying for the regional finals to be held at Kings Taunton on 8 November.
