Last Tuesday, 20 of the boys grabbed a pasty tea and set off in the minibuses to Home Park where Plymouth Argyle were hosting Wycombe Wanderers in a League Two battle. Unfortunately Plymouth were defeated, and Willem believes he is a bad luck omen for the club as he is yet to watch them win! The boys were treated to an interesting display of both football and football supporting with the unique style of the Argyle crowd.
On Wednesday, Kilian made his debut for the U16 rugby team against St Austell-based Penrice School. He played admirably in the game and contributed strongly to the team’s success. Rory, a regular in the team, also performed well. It is great to see Niels, Leo, Heinrich and Simon trying their hand at rugby too, and their commitment is to be admired
On Saturday, a few of the boys supported the School 1st XV against Kelly College; a good win by Truro! Later some of the boys ventured to the cinema and met up in the Xen noodle bar. Back in the house Mrs Austin produced a feast of pizzas and dough balls in the common room which the boys promptly devoured!
Sunday saw us arrive at paintballing ready for battle. We split into teams, accepted our orders and let battle commence. Some interesting costumes were worn and Bugs Bunny and Pudsey Bear really seemed to enjoy themselves! The teams took a number of hits and at the end of the four hours most had a bruise or two to compare. It was a great afternoon out with smiles all round despite the paint-splattered faces and fierce rivalry. You can see some photos from our afternoon here.
We arrived back in the house in time to catch some of the Sunday football: Mr Austin’s team were unlucky to only come away with a point against the league leaders Chelsea!
Cath, our amazing weekend chef, never fails us and her legendary Smokey Mountain Chicken was well-received to replenish us from the day’s exertions and refresh us for an evening spent by many in the library.
