Trennick Boarding Update – 11 September 2015 – Fencing

By now all but one of the boys have returned to Trennick House. The new boarders received tours of the school and of our beautiful city. We also included two fun activities, one to a local beach and one to the bowling alley. On Wednesday the boarders returned to the house which gave a further opportunity to make new friends.
This weekend has been great, the boys attended a fencing class that was run by the Cornwall Fencing Centre which is based at school. Amongst other skills shown, the boys took the opportunity to use the sabre in combat which was thoroughly enjoyed. The fencing club runs on a regular basis at the school during the week if the boys want to develop their skills further.
For some the boys watched their first game of rugby when the school played the former pupils during Saturday afternoon. The school ran out comfortable winners 28-7. After a well-deserved lie in on Sunday morning and a hearty brunch appreciated by all the boys were content to stay in the house. Some played Fifa on the PS4, some played pool and others utilised the library for study.
During the afternoon a number of boys expressed and interest to play American football. Some have played previously so have had experience. A non-contact version called flag football was played on the schools Astroturf pitch. The new NFL season is starting soon so there is currently a great deal of interest in this sport. All of the boys attended the library in the evening for compulsory prep.
