On Thursday 7 November, a selection of pupils from across the year groups at Truro Prep School took part in the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival.
The pupils performed an abridged version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Hall for Cornwall to great acclaim. Bottom, Puck, the confused lovers and the assembled cast had the audience in stitches with their spontaneity, energy and sparkle.
They were joined by pupils from Richard Lander (performing Romeo and Juliet) Pool Academy (performing Much Ado About Nothing) and St Ives School (performing King Lear).
Annabel Gregory, Teacher at Truro Prep School, said: “It was a tall order to ask 30 children – some as young as seven – to put on a show in such a large and daunting space with only an hour and a half’s rehearsal in the venue, but they pulled it off with professionalism and a touch of fairy dust! The kids were amazing. I’m so incredibly proud of them.”
