The Under 13 Junior boys tennis team consisting of Ali Mantle, George Law, Sam Trudgian and Max Hudson played in the Adolph Cup. They all played some really good tennis and did better than expected coming 4th.
Ali, George and Sam lost very closely having drawn the best players from Bodmin and Wadebridge. Max was unbeaten at number 4 and competed very well. They were drawn in a pool with a strong Bodmin team (two County players) and lost narrowly. Truro won all of their other matches but Bodmin progressed to the final.
The Under 13 Junior girls tennis team consisting of Maddie Griffiths, Rosie Bartlett, Madi Cook and Milly Frankis played in the Strathavon Cup. In their pool they played against Mounts Bay and Penair.
The Mounts Bay match finished 2 rubbers all with Rosie and Milly winning their games. However when the number of games won was looked at, Truro had a 18-10 victory.
Next up Penair, all 4 girls won their matches convincingly, with a 30 games to 2 victory. Truro then had to wait for the other pool to finish and ended up playing local rivals Truro High School in the final.
It was a very closely contested affair. The High School’s number one was superb, whilst players 2 and 3 had very close games the High School winning both 5-4.
Milly was the only player to win her final game 8-4.
Head of Sports Mr Whitmore said:
All girls were a real credit to the school. Well done.
A special thanks to Steve Askey and Mrs Newton for taking the teams.
