The windy conditions at Bodmin’s Dragon Tennis Centre made the tough matches even tougher. The eventual score does not reflect how closely contested each point was.
Flossie Cameron-Webb (1) initially matched a higher ranked player point for point in the first four games until her opponent took control to win in straight sets. Most points featured long base-line rallies with both players moving their opponents from side to side.
Erin Sawyer (2) also kept her young higher ranked opponent in long rallies, playing thoughtful and tactical tennis, chasing down almost every ball. She served well throughout the match. Erin also lost in straight sets, but narrowly missed winning a set.
Beth Rutter (3) and Flo Conchie (4) both played consistent tennis, with some excellent well placed forehands but both succumbed to their opposite numbers, where the eventual score did not reflect the standard of the tennis played. The match was decided after the singles rubbers with Bodmin as worthy winners of the Jeans Bowl.
This was an excellent fixture against a strong Bodmin side and the girls should feel pleased with their performance.
