Success in the Cornwall Young Author Competition

Su, a first year student here at Truro School, has this week been awarded a prize in the 2015 Cornwall Young Author Competition (CYAC).
Su entered the CYAC after seeing posters the school had displayed in the Library. CYAC is run by TJ INK, a self-publishing company based in Padstow, Cornwall. In addition to supporting adult talent, TJ INK wanted to celebrate young Cornish writers, and so launched the competition in connection with World Book Day.
Su entered without any prompting from anyone at the school, which goes to show how proactive she is! The company will shortly be publishing an anthology of shortlisted stories with Su’s story set to feature.
Ms Nelhams from the library congratulated Su and said:

‘Su reads voraciously and has a wonderful enthusiasm for literature. We very much look forward to seeing Su’s work in print.’

Su’s story is about four children have mysterious powers – although the powers are not without side-effects. The book will be published shortly before summer.
