Truro School recently welcomed two world-renowned Squash professionals for a masterclass.
The world’s No1 Squash player, Mohamed ElShorbagy, and the World No3, Marwan ElShorbagy graced the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre Squash court.
Students gathered to watch the masterclass and picked up some new skills from the ElShorbagy brothers.
Some of the students had the chance to challenge Mohamed and Marwan to a rally whilst picking up some new tips and techniques.
Speaking about the afternoon, Mohamed said,
“I came here three years ago and I was really glad that I was invited back again. I really love playing Squash with the kids, I’m happy to see the progression that has been happening here.”
Squash has rapidly grown as a popular sport at Truro School with over 70 active players making use of the Sir Ben Ainslie Sport Centre facilities. This is not the first Squash masterclass that Truro School has held, with each one providing a boost of encouragement for the school’s aspiring Squash players.
The afternoon also included a Q & A session followed by autograph signing for the students. Following on from their time in the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre, Mohamed and Marwan went onto Truro Squash Club to play a match against each other.
This is the third Squash Masterclass arranged between the club and the school in as many years. Previous masterclasses included the visits of three-time world champion Nick Matthew and world record holder Cameron Pilley.
