Students draw inspiration from the Heseltine Gallery’s exhibition

Both students and visitors have been drawing inspiration from the Heseltine Gallery’s current exhibition, which uses the abstraction of dance and physical movement to translate the sounds into gesture, then gesture into a purely visual medium.

Translation, The Whale Song Scroll, is a very interesting and experimental art installation performance created by Gabriel Vyvyan, a former pupil of Truro School, and artist Sandra Goodenough.

Over a year in planning and making, the Scroll as an artefact is 10m in length, and uses traditional materials such as ink, gesso, and gold leaf on paper to capture the essential dynamism of each track.
