Under 11 Rugby and Under 11 Hockey, Mount Kelly

Last week, 31 boys from Years 5 and 6 represented the school in three rugby fixtures against Mount Kelly School.

Our Under 11A rugby team played competitively as a team, but needed to work on their positional play, leaving gaps for Mount Kelly, who scored 4 tries. Unfortunately, despite some strong runs from our players, we did not score any tries.

Our Under 11B rugby team played good attacking rugby, scoring 4 tries with 3 conversions. This was a tight match, with Mount Kelly scoring 5 tries and 4 conversions, to outscore us by 7 points.

Our Under 11C rugby team was much stronger than Mount Kelly’s and we scored 9 tries, through a combination of strong running and great support play. Mount Kelly scored 4 tries, which meant that we won by 5 tries. Well done to all the boys who represented the school at this fixture.

We played 15 girls from Year 6 in two hockey fixtures with Mount Kelly.

Our Under 11A team drew 3:3 in a close, high quality game. Elizabeth, Poppy and Harriet were all goal scorers. Katie played extremely well in goal, saving several shots in an exciting match. Elizabeth was chosen as player of the match by the opposition.

Our Under 11B team played against Mount Kelly’s B and C teams. Darcy, Mia and Ellie B played extremely well. This team showed determination and good teamwork, but needed to create more width by moving into space. Despite several opportunities, this team failed to score any goals, but they did have two enjoyable and close matches.
