Truro Fencers Succeed at London Competition

At the first British ranking event of the season Truro School fencers took on the fierce competition in London, gaining fantastic results and setting their stall out for the rest of the season.

In the Under 17 men’s sabre Sam Boorne took 5th place with Bertie Holdsworth in 6th and Luke Haynes in 11th. Jack Wong and Alex Galiotto took 30th and 41st places respectively. In the Under 17 women’s sabre event our 2 fencers, Keely Rodda and Molly Wood took 10th and 14th places respectively.

Our greatest results came, however, when our fencers competed on the second day when all competed above their age category in the Under 20 event. The men’s sabreurs took all the podium places with former pupil Josh Maxwell taking gold with Jamie Craze in silver and Nick Howes and Bertie Holdsworth clinching the bronze medals. In the women’s event Caitlin Maxwell continued her run of form with 2 golds in 2 weeks with Molly Wood in 13th, Jenna Bray in 14th, Keely Rodda in 17th and Lily Wood taking 23rd place.
