The annual County Junior Squash Championships were held over the weekend of 24/25th Sep at the Truro Squash Club and saw the best young talent in U13 to U19 categories from across all the various schools and clubs in Cornwall.
This was the first time Truro School had good representation at the prestigious event and saw a total of 12 of our best players battle over the long weekend in each age group.
In the U17s Truro School took an outstanding 5 of the top 6 places with Isaac Heron, Sam Dunne-Rundle, Oscar Pringle and Ollie Brocklebank all playing their hearts out and achieving excellent results. Callum Penry went one better and made the Grand Final only to be pipped for top spot by a very talented and experienced County player from Newquay.
The results were equally impressive in the U15 category where we claimed 3 of the top 4 spots, this time with Jack Mahon finishing 2nd, Louis Murray 3rd and Josh Mitchell 4th.
Perhaps most impressive of all was the U13 category where Truro School took a complete clean sweep with all top 6 places going to our boys. Congratulations to Isaac Murray 6th, Milo Charles 5th, George Purchas 4th, and Ben Thorpe 3rd. The final between Jack Mahon and Luis Murray was of the highest calibre as both boys are nationally ranked in the top 40, with Jack taking the top prize in an amazing cut and thrust encounter.
Truro School can now also proudly announce that the entire U13 County team will comprise of our pupils as we cement our position as the premier force in Cornwall Junior Squash.
