Louis and Jack battle against the Country's brightest prospects for national squash glory

Truro School were well represented at the recent England Squash Championships with Jack M and Louis M both competing in the boys Under 13 category.

Nearly 300 players took part for the coveted title of English Junior Champion at the prestigious three day event staged at Edgbaston Priory and the University of Birmingham.

It was the first time for both boys at the Nationals and they had trained intensively in the lead up to the competition. Louis played some tough games against quality opposition battling hard to progress to the semi-final of the Plate competition and finishing a very respectable 20th overall. Jack met England’s 6th ranked player in the second round in what turned out to be a titanic match. Jack eventually won through 3-2 clinching the deciding 5th set 12-10. Jack finished the tournament on a high beating England’s top ranked player in the Under 11 age group to come an impressive 7th.

The event was a great experience which gave both boys more exposure to the best players in the country which has helped Jack and Louis to rise further up the National rankings.
