Hockey Match Reports – Truro School vs Duchy

U12 Boys

The boys had a big but strong squad to come out and face Duchy on Sunday for their first game. The boys were motivated and determined to get a result, throughout the game they maintained all of the possession. They were taking shots left, right and centre and finally one got in the back of the net through the keepers legs. Our boys were extremely skilful and gave everything they had throughout the game, they worked hard. Duchy’s keeper definitely kept them in the game, otherwise the score would have been completely different. It was a great game for the boys to start with, and as a coach I was extremely impressed by the performance and attitude of each player. I feel a very successful season coming our way and the result from this game does not reflect the boys performance. Well Done boys!

2-1 to Duchy

U14 Girls

With an early start on a refreshing morning, the girls got straight into their warm up and prepared themselves for the game ahead. Truro came out strong maintaining the possession of the ball well and showing of their fantastic individual play. Throughout the game Truro were strong and determined not to let Duchy have any time on the ball, the girls won 50/50 balls and the attack were making leading runs to make the Duchy defence think what was going on. Duchy were unable to keep up with the pace and skill from our girls, however it did take Truro a while to find the back of the net but once it was found it was easily found another 5 times. A great performance by the whole of the Truro team, well done girls!

6-0 Truro School

U14 Boys

A great start to the boys first game this season, they worked well as a team, passing the ball around from left to right and making use of transferring the ball around the back. Duchy had the majority of their players behind the ball throughout the game so Truro had to think tactically about how they could move the ball forward up field, they drew the defenders out by the passes they were making which is how they managed to get in behind them. Truro had a number of shots and shorts corners but failed to get any in the net. The score does not reflect the boys performance and it was only the Duchy keeper that kept them in the game although some of our shots were of target as we were always going for the big swing rather than the simple shot. The boys played well and worked hard for each other. Well Done boys!
