Girls Hockey Match Reports

Wednesday 13th September vs Milfield

U14 0-2 Loss

It was the first U14’s hockey game at 11 a side and against tough opposition but the girls were extremely excited to play. As individuals the players had great movement with the ball and as a team they linked some extremely good, solid passes to together. It was equal possession but we didn’t finish our chances, that’s something we need to work on. A great start to the season and there are a number of positive aspects to take away from this game.

Well Done Girls!

U16 10-0 win

Won 10-0
E.Powell (5), L.Heather (3), R.Bartlett (1), P.Jessop (1).
First match of the season and what a game to start off with! After nearly a three hour journey the girls tried to compose themselves but started off a little tentative. After five minutes they started to pass with more conviction and although at times they were drawn into some scrappy play they managed to channel the ball well and this resulted in some lovely goals. It was great to see all the girls gel as a team and I was particularly impressed with their movement off the ball creating space for some accurate passing. Great work girls!

U18 0-4 loss

The 1st XI squad should feel proud of how the new team developed against tough opponents. There was some great passing up through the midfield but the team found it difficult to effectively penetrate the Millfield ‘D’. Millfield had the edge in attack and worked hard to stretch our defence and score some good team goals. It will be exciting to see how the team continues to strengthens in the build up to the county tournament.

U16 girls’ hockey vs Penrice

2-0 E.Hudson 1, M.Browne 1.

Our first game of the season, missing a goalkeeper Gracie kindly stepped up to help us out. Penrice had three boys in their team, one being a good goalkeeper. The girls had some good set play and moved the ball around well. We won with two great goals from Eve and Molly.
