Truro School took the largest team of any school to the Cornwall Schools Cross Country Championships and finished with a fantastic set of results to show for it.
The Girls teams – missing a few key runners due to illness, injury and other commitments all ran strongly and did well in the team events with the 1st Year Girls and Junior Girls both finishing 4th in the team events. The Intermediate Girls and the Senior Girls also ran well both finishing as Runners-Up in their age groups.
Special mention is reserved for Izzie Leigh (7th), Aimée Brown (8th), Scarlett Hughes (9th), Laura Heather (10th) and Sophie Upton (11th). The Boys Teams did even better, winning the individual races in every age group and winning the 1st Year, Junior Boys & Intermediate Boys team competitions as well. Special mentions go to Ted Phillips, Isaac Murray, Harris Mier and Finn Birnie (all individual County Champions), Benji and Alex McCartney (both 3rd place) and Ben Wodskou, (5th). Despite the adverse weather and treacherous ground conditions, everyone put in 100% effort and commitment and everyone had a very enjoyable morning.
One final special mention is reserved for Olivia Griggs who crossed the finish line wearing one shoe having lost the other shoe on the first lap!
Congratulations to Aimée Brown, Anna English, Ted Hughes, Ben Wodskou, Isaac Murray, Ashley Faulds, Lenny Howrth, Harris Mier, Benji McCartney, Elliott Mier, Finn Birnie and Alex McCartney who are going to represent Cornwall at the South West Cross Country Championships this Saturday!
