Senior Boys’ Boarding Blog: 6 February 2019

It has been a good weekend in Trennick, with a real focus on Life Skills. Saturday saw half of the boys join up with the Senior girls to spend an afternoon at the newly built Leiths cookery school on site. Experienced cookery teachers Mrs Taylor and Mr Hatfield delivered an excellent session, teaching the students many cookery techniques as they prepared a menu of prawn and salmon linguine,  lasagne, garlic bread, tiramisu and lemon tart.

The boys made excellent chefs and picked up the required techniques quickly. All of the effort was well rewarded as they got to enjoy the fruits of their labour in the relaxed environment of the cafe. As many of our boys approach the time where they move away, the ability to cook is clearly important.  I hope that they will remember some of the techniques – I know I learnt quite a bit!

The boys who didn’t cook this time visited the cinema on Saturday; they will be cooking an Asian menu in March – I look forward to helping taste it!

Away from the cookery, Simon played well in his hockey match for Truro and Obum scored 3 goals for the school in football. Roman was away over the weekend fencing and we look forward to hearing how he got on. Max enjoyed a drama department trip to see a new theatre company. Sunday saw a quiet day in the house with a board games evening before preparing for the week ahead.
