Senior Boys’ Boarding Blog: 5 March

It has been an interesting week with the weather – the storm nicknamed ‘the Beast from the East’ arrived on Wednesday and caused the school to close from Wednesday lunchtime.

The Trennick boys all enjoyed the snow greatly and had a lot of fun with snowball fights,  tobogganing and making snowmen. They were all set work by their teachers via the internet and there were a few hard-working boys on Sunday evening! We managed to open up the school sports centre for a few hours on Thursday and Friday and the boys made good use of the gym, basketball and badminton facilities.

The weather returned to the more normal heavy rain on Saturday which forced a change from the plan visit to a beach to play football and enjoy some fish and chips. The boys asked instead to go to McDonalds and then Tesco’s supermarket to stock up on some food! At Tesco’s Alex and Ayobami helped buy some supplies to make Mexican fajitas in the kitchen but found that the supermarket had been cleaned out of chicken! It seems the local population had been panic buying bread, milk and chicken.

Mr. Kitto, the Trennick Resident House Tutor, and Mr. Thompson, the Poltisco Resident House Tutor, organised an inter-house poker tournament on Sunday afternoon. The boys all enjoyed themselves – some were luckier than others – and Trennick ended victorious.

School re-opens on Monday and hopefully the normal school pattern will be re-established.
