This weekend saw us have a relatively quiet weekend as many of our boys were away seeing family or competing in sports fixtures.
We wish Amari the very best in his fencing competition this weekend and await news upon his return this evening.
This weekend also saw Urko and Teddy competing with the Truro School U14s football team, playing against the very best U13 footballers in Cornwall. This made for a very even contest, but the U14s used their size to their advantage and in keeping a clean sheet and scoring a goal they won the game 1 – 0. We enjoyed going up to the pitches to support them and cheer from the side-lines, despite the very cold and windy conditions.
On Saturday night Daniel and Peter spent the evening socialising with the junior girls over in Pentreve, before coming over to join us for our evening pizza and film. The four boys then spent the remainder of the evening socialising together in the common room.
The following day we all went up for an afternoon of cookery in our on-site cookery school, along with the girls from Pentreve and some of the boys from Trennick. Maria Taylor, the head of the school kindly came in to give a 4-hour cookery lesson on how to make a traditional Sunday Roast. The boarders learnt how to make proper roast potatoes, steamed vegetables, Cauliflower Cheese and a baked leek and cheese dish, as well as gravy and stuffing for the meat (there was a choice of Roast Pork, Lamb or Chicken). They also prepared two different desserts, a ‘not a’ lemon cheesecake (ie without the cheese) and an apple and blackberry tart. As the duty MOS it was my duty to taste these dishes and I can confirm they were all delicious!
Next weekend the boys go paintballing – I have feeling it could be quite a popular weekend to stay in boarding!
Here they are enjoying the fruits of their labours in the adjoining café.
All best wishes,
