This weekend has been a genuine opportunity for our boys to see Cornwall at its best, with 2 days of glorious sunshine. When the sun shines, there is only one thing to do – head for the coast! Saturday’s trip to St Ives gave the boys the chance to see one of Cornwall’s most iconic towns and to visit the incredible food festival held on Porthminster beach. The trip began with a visit to a local Cornish ice cream shop where we all indulged in a treat! The boys then took the opportunity to explore the town, with some heading straight to the festival, while others enjoyed some ball games on the beach. To reach the town we took the short train ride from St Erth, this route follows the coast and gives amazing views of the turquoise waters of Carbis Bay.
Roman N has spent the weekend fencing and at time of writing I don’t have an update on his progress, but when he left he was talking about doing the double – you have to admire his confidence! Alex A continues to volunteer at Oxfam, this not only counts towards his Duke of Edinburgh award but gives a valuable insight into charity work and will look good on future application forms.
For many of the 5th and Upper 6th years, this week coming represents the start of their exam period. The work ethic within the house has moved up yet another gear and the library has been a popular destination over the weekend to spend some peaceful time completing past papers or studying notes. We would like to wish all of the boys the very best over the exam period and will be doing all that we can to help them stay relaxed and calm.
