U15 NatWest Cup, Round 6 v Millfield
The U15 squad travelled to Millfield to play their Round 6 NatWest Cup game on Wednesday 15 January. The game was played on the main Millfield Jubilee pitch in the heart of the school. With many traveling supporters and a strong home crowd, there was a great atmosphere for the teams to play with.
From the kick off no quarter was given by either side. Millfiled had early possession, but were met by a strong and organised Truro defence. Millfield looked to throw the ball into the wide channels, which was also met by some superb tackling. The first three tackles that Truro made were really crunching hits that stopped the opposition in their tracks.
Our opposition also had a strong defence that stopped the Truro attacking play. This was the tale of the half with both teams having chances. In the 24th minute, Millfield barrelled over and scored – the only score of the half.
The second half started with the same gusto as the first, with both defences dominating play. In the seventh minute Truro fell off a tackle and conceded a try. Three minutes later they gave away a penalty; Millfield moved the ball wide at pace and out flanked the Truro defence to score out wide.
Then it was back to par with both teams working hard for possession. Truro had two chances to score during the half but could not ground the ball in goal.
The game ended with the score 0-19. All the Truro boys can feel extremely proud of the rugby that they played and the manner and spirit in which they played.
