Wednesday 25 November proved to be a day of great success for two of our teams in the National cup.
The 1st XV travelled to unbeaten Exeter School for their 4th Round tie in the Under 18 NatWest Cup and gave an outstanding performance to win 10-3. The defensive effort, particularly in the second half against the wind and slope was most impressive and every player played a big role in the team effort. The 1st XV now play Exeter College in the 5th Round on Wed 9 December at home, 2.00pm KO.
The Under 15s were also playing their NatWest Cup round 5 match against a big Kingsbridge side and played some outstanding rugby to win 37-5 and now progress with real confidence to their 6th round tie away to heavyweights Millfield on Wed 9 December.
The Under 13s also play Glantaf at the world famous Cardiff Arms Park on Wed 9 December in the last 16 of the Under 13 National Cup.
On Wednesday 25 December the Under 14Bs, Under 13s and Under 12s travelled to Fowey and all three sides performed well. The Under 14Bs won a well-contested game 21-17, whilst the Under 13s won 43-5 and the Under 12s won 55-0.
On Saturday 28 December the 1st XV, Under 16 and Under 15B sides faced a three hour trip to West Buckland on a wet and windy day. The 1st XV rested a number of players with injuries following the Exeter game, giving the opportunity for 2nd XV players to join the squad. In a game dominated by Truro’s forwards, the side performed well to win 43-5. The depleted U16s also ran out 27-0 winners whilst the Under 15B side, although battling manfully, were overpowered by the West Buckland A team opposition 5-35.
In the home matches, the Under 12 game was well matched with Truro winning an entertaining game 35-25 and our Under 14 B side winning 29-5 against West Buckland A team. The Under 13 game was cancelled by West Buckland.
