Rugby Summary – Week Beginning 13 October 2014

On Wednesday 15 October, the 1st XV were given a walkover by Helston College in the NatWest Under 18 Cup and now progress to Round 4 with a home tie against Bodmin College on Wednesday 12 November.


On the same day, the 2nd XV enjoyed an excellent 47:7 win against Truro College 3rd XV in the Cornwall Under 18 League, whilst the Under 15s progressed to the 4th Round of the NatWest Cup with a comprehensive 57:7 victory over Penryn College.


The junior sides travelled to Redruth School for a block fixture and wins were recorded for the Under 12As, Under 13s and Under 14s, although the Under 16Bs went down against Redruth’s Under 16A side. The Under 12B side fought out a 10:10 draw.


On Thursday the Under 16s were due to play St Ives in the County Cup but were given a walkover as St Ives conceded the game.


On Saturday 18 October Truro fielded a 2nd XV comprising Under 17 and Under 16 players against Cornwall Under 16B. The side played some impressive rugby despite never having played together and ran out convincing 40:12 winners with tries from Fran Lowry, Peter Watson, Matt Poole, Sam Cumins, Seb Firth and Rory Pugh. Matt Poole kicked 5 conversions.
