Reception Class Spend Afternoon on Their Tiptoes

The Reception pupils had an exciting afternoon when the Duchy Ballet came to visit.

The children learnt all about the story behind this year’s Hall for Cornwall performance of The Nutcracker. They also had the exciting opportunity to work with some of the older Prep School pupils who are in the production. The older girls gave a stunning demonstration before teaching Reception some of their own moves.

Kay Jones, Artistic Director for the Duchy Ballet, explained the importance of the afternoon

“Doing dance and seeing dance are both things that enhance your life and encourage children to experience a love of music and movement. We try to give children an experience that they would not otherwise have.”

The workshop ended with the children trying on costumes from previous Duchy Ballet performances. It is safe to say everyone had a fun and inspiring afternoon.
