Twelve Sixth Form students travelled with Mrs Wormald and Mrs Rainbow to Queen’s College Taunton for the Model United Nations Conference on Saturday. They made up two delegations representing Kazakhstan and Portugal and took part in debates that discussed a wide range of current issues in the Disarmament, Political, Human Rights, Environmental, Middle East and Health Committees.
Out of 16 schools who competed with approximately 150 delegates taking part, five of our students won individual awards. Phoebe, Reuben, and Lilly won Certificates of Commendation, Patrick was Highly Commended for his performance in the Environmental Committee and Oliver won an extremely prestigious gavel for being the Best Delegate in the Disarmament Committee.
Overall, our team representing Kazakhstan came second, which was an outstanding achievement in our first year of attending this conference.
Mrs Rainbow said:
“The students had a most enjoyable day and were a total credit to our school, we can be immensely proud of them all.”
