Just for Girls National Judo Competition

We had a very enjoyable, social and successful weekend at High Wycombe.

After a very enjoyable evening meal (to bond) Coaches, students and parents retired to bed. Next morning we were up bright and early leaving the hotel at 8.00am to weigh in at 8.30am.

Everyone made their weight category although we had one nervous moment there, however, all was well after a second weigh-in for one of our party. Then the competition commenced. This was National level and the girls soon realised they had to up their game, which was a big step up for some. Lots of valuable experience was gained.

Beth, Under 24Kg, produced some lovely Judo and after 3 wins found herself in the final. She came up against a very good experienced Junior Girl and came away delighted with her Silver medal.

Eleanor, in the Under 44Kg, won two fights on her way to her Bronze medal losing to the two finalists one being a brown belt four belts higher than her and the other being a green belt two belts higher than her.

Gwen won three fights and continued through the compound knock out to the final produce lots of good throws on the way. She again came up against a superb player but came away very happy with her Silver medal.

Evie , Harriet and Elia fought really well and with great pride and determination, but were unlucky this time.

All of the girls learnt a lot from this competition and Elia just missed out on a bronze by one fight.

Well done everyone and a big thank you to all the parents who transported their children and provided such good company on the trip.
