Congratulations to everyone who competed in the cross country event at Polwhele House on Saturday 29 March 2014. All of the children who have attended cross country club over the past two terms were invited to run, as well as children who had finished in the top five in the inter-house cross country races.
There were also competitors from Polwhele House, Bolitho, Kea and Truro High Schools. It is a tricky multi-terrain course, with our U9s racing over 1000m and U11s over 1500m, of hilly woodland. The combined year group races added to the challenge for our Year 3 and 5 runners, who were competing against children an age group older than themselves.
Our U9 teams did extremely well over the muddy, testing course. Finishing in the top three in their races were Finn (1st), Max (2nd), and Lucy (2nd). Congratulations to Lexi (4th) for her stamina and speed over the course.
Our U11 teams were outstanding. Sam (1st), William (2nd) and Charlie (3rd) all finished in the top three in their race. Well done to Jason, Milo and Louis. Rosie (2nd) and Poppy (4th) also looked impressive and coped extremely well with the course. Finally, congratulations to our guest runner, Ben (now at Truro School), who comfortably won his U13 race.
Medals and certificates were awarded to the top three finishers in each race. We were also delighted to again receive the winning shield, awarded to the school with the lowest average score for their top six finishers.
