It’s been a sociable weekend for most of our girls: after a busy week at school they had lots of free time on Saturday and in the evening we went into Truro to eat for a change, instead of going up to the dining hall. We went to The Hubbox on the other side of town, had a fantastic meal and then wondered back to Poltisco in time to watch a DVD and have popcorn.
On Sunday we welcomed back Maria who had spent the previous day with family visiting from Spain and headed off to North Cornwall after brunch. After some enthusiastic singing to the radio on the way, our convoy of Truro School minibuses arrived in Wadebridge. The whole boarding community then hired bikes and rode along the Camel Trail, a level path along the river estuary from Wadebridge to Padstow. Having secured our bikes, we wondered around the beautiful fishing village of Padstow and had ice creams before heading back to Wadebridge. We were fairly tired and saddle sore by the time we got back – especially Chloe and Bryony who managed to fall off their bikes in spectacular style, but apart from a few bumps and grazes we all escaped unscathed. You can see some photos from our afternoon here. The girls were half-asleep by the time we got back to Truro but after all that exercise we were pleased to have a big roast dinner in the dining hall in the evening, and then go back to Poltisco to get ourselves ready for Monday morning school. It was a tiring but lovely day – made particularly enjoyable by the fact that all of the boarding houses could be together on an activity; it doesn’t happen often as there are so many of us!
