Hunger Games, Mockingjay, Part 1.
The girls have enjoyed a busy weekend and the sun has been out shining upon Truro. On Saturday the girls got to go into town to look around the shops, buying a few goodies along the way. They also popped into Starbucks to order a festive coffee including the Christmas Cookie latte. On Saturday night the Poltisco students went to the Plaza Cinema to watch the new Hunger Games film, Mockingjay, part 1. They all came out of the cinema having thoroughly enjoyed the film and wanting to read the trilogy of books by Suzanna Collins again . The film finished at 7.45pm and all the girls were feeling pretty peckish so we went home via a local Chinese restaurant to pick up a banquet of take away. Bryony loved the duck in plum sauce while Carissa’s favourite was the beef in black bean sauce. Carissa had spent some time researching which Chinese restaurant to go to in Truro and wanted to show the girls some of her favourite dishes from home. Other dishes on the menu included, Szechuan chicken, chow mien and a lemon chicken dish, all the food was devoured – it smelt so good! On Sunday, we had a mellow day, watching films and doing some Christmas arts and crafts. This included making our own Christmas decorations. Some of the girls chose to make homemade Christmas cards to be put on sale for our local charity, Little Harbour, while others made some very sparkly Christmas trees decorations, everything from snowmen to baubles. Finally, the girls practised their Chapel assembly which will take place next week. Emily has picked out a lovely hymn and passage to read to the students which sums up the on-going theme of treating others equally. The girls are now settling down for the evening by watching TV and finishing their prep.
