We have had a good week at school and the girls have had a little less prep than usual as they start to revise ready for the End of Year Exams after half term. On Friday we had a relaxed evening with most of the girls at Pentreve for their English lesson and some of them making good use of the Sports Hall to play badminton.
Boarding on Saturday
We had a fantastic day on Saturday- the sun was shining with a light northerly wind which meant we had perfect, sheltered condition for Loe beach on the south coast, only a few miles south-west of Truro.
We struggled in to our wetsuits, headed down to the sea and unsteadily climbed in to our kayaks. To our amazement, they were incredibly stable and after a short lesson on paddle technique, we headed west across Carrack Roads towards Weir Beach. We admired the stunning houses along the shoreline and all agreed that it would be a pretty fantastic spot to live. It was lovely to be out on the water again, without the usual scrapes we pick up when surfing.
After a quick rest on the beach we headed back and rewarded our hard work with ice cream and cake at the beach café. It was another sociable evening with some of the girls visiting Pentreve (mainly to take advantage of their barbeque!) while the others relaxed watching Dirty Dancing on TV, which is fast becoming a retro favourite in the house.
Boarding on Sunday
On Sunday the pool was open and the girls visited town for a last bit of shopping before we head in to our last week. Kayaking was one of the best trips we have done this year, and next time I think we’ll try stand up paddle boarding too. It’s been a great term so far and I wish all the girls safe journeys over half term. I hope they have a relaxing time, but also remember to revise ready for their exams on their return!
