Wednesday the 20th of September saw two teams from Truro Prep travelling to Plymouth for their annual U11 Festival. In very wet conditions, both teams looked to play the fast flowing game of rugby that has become expected by Truro Prep School. The festival saw teams grouped into pools of three teams. After the initial group matches, each team faced their respectively placed opponents from the other groups.
One side faced tough competition in their group against Bramdean and Mount Kelly, leaving them contesting the Plate following the group matches. Our other side fared slightly better with a victory against Stover ensuring they competed in the shield after a narrow loss to Plymouth College in their last group game.
With competition heating up in the shield and plate competitions, Truro Prep produced some great rugby. In the plate competition we came runners up with victory over Plymouth College following a narrow loss to Stover. The shield competition was won by the Prep with a convincing win against Trinity and a nail biting victory over Mount Kelly.
The players from all the teams must be praised for their great attitude and attempts to play running rugby in truly horrible conditions. It was great to see so many of our children getting the opportunity to represent the school in this tournament. Also a big thank you to all the parents who travelled and braved the weather to support the Prep School.
