The weekend started off with a bang: it was Eneko’s 14th birthday on Friday! Cake, cards and the usual rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ took place at morning roll call, only for us to find out later that his guardians had provided more cake and decorated the lounge for his return from school. Thankfully boys can never get too much cake!
The evening followed the traditional round of Sports Centre activities, and Saturday was surprisingly quiet on the sporting front this week, so the opportunity to catch up on sleep and work, and to go to town was taken.
Saturday night was pizza and DVD night and as ever, the boys consumed the pizzas as if they had not eaten for a week; where do they put all that food?
By popular request we returned to the ‘Flowrider’ at Retallack Resort in St Columb Major on Sunday, as some of the boys had missed the opportunity last time. Eneko, David and Daniel were in their element as it was new to them, and the other boys showed off their expertise having been with Mr and Mrs Mulready already. They were much more adventurous and tricks were on display, although not all were pulled off quite as intended!
It was a bright but cold day and the comfort of a nice warm Jacuzzi between rides was very welcome! The session was an hour long and we were glad of the hot showers at the end to warm everyone up, although the boys did insist on following them with ‘ice cold’ slush drinks of course! You can see a gallery of photos from our trip here.
Next Tuesday promises to be a great evening out as we join with Trennick to see Plymouth Argyle play Exeter City in a fiercely contested derby match at Home Park. We warmly welcome some day boys into the houses for this ‘taster session’ too and hope they enjoy their snapshot of boarding with us.
