Netball Summary – Week Beginning Monday 24 March

vs. Shebbear

U12 Won 26-10

Travelling to Shebbear for our last fixture of the season, the squad wanted to finish on a win. After a good warm up the girls took to the court full of enthusiasm. They dominated the game throughout, even with players from defence going into attack. The game was scrappy in parts but Truro were worthy winners.

U13 Won 16-15

The girls played admirably in very difficult conditions. With various combinations being tried out, Truro demonstrated some excellent play whilst having to contend with some very exuberant supporters. Lily was voted player of the match by the opposition.

U14 (Cancelled)

U15 Won 29-17

Truro played some controlled netball, and super shooting from Flo and Sophia saw us 20-8 up at half time. A totally different second half with very physical play from Shebbear disrupted the play; but Truro kept their composure to emerge winners.

U18 Won 51-20

This was the final game of the season and the very last match for the Upper Sixth students…and what a performance. The squad showed cohesion and versatility and were well deserved winners of this match. Amelia, Beth and Milly played superbly in attack with Hayley and Mary dominant in defence. Well done girls.

U15 County Netball Tournament

Played 8 – Won 5, Lost 3

GF 55 GA 32

A day of mixed weather and mixed fortune for the squad and a late change to the draw meant a first round clash against THS. Nerves showed and we never really settled and lost 2-5.

Better performances followed and we secured wins against Camborne and Newquay Treviglas. Our last group match was against Liskeard and with the team making too many unforced errors and we narrowly lost 8-9. This meant that we were playing off for positions 6th – 10th.

Four more matches followed and the team produced some better netball, with more accurate passing and super shooting from Sophia W and Flo C saw Truro secure three more wins. Our last game was again against Liskeard and we did not start well, finding ourselves 2-5 down at half time. The team rallied but time was not on our side and we lost 6-8. This gave us a position of 7th overall.

Squad: Alex M, Beth R, Tegen H, Anna T, Sophia T, Sophia W, Sophie N, Flo C, Kitty R, and Chloe S.
