Netball Summary – Week Beginning Monday 21 September

Vs The Maynard School, Exeter

Under 14s | Lost 11-31
The Under 14s got off to a slow start against Maynard. Lara stepped up to play GS and worked very hard. Daisy and Zoe continued to work well together in the centre court. Rebecca was outstanding in defence making many interceptions against a player who was over a foot taller than her! Molly was voted player of the match. I would personally like to commend Daisy whose head did not drop throughout the game she showed great positivity throughout the game.
Under 16s | Won 25-20
The girls didn’t settle into the game until the second half when they started to dominate The Maynard. Their improved timing of moves and choice of passes in the third and fourth quarters made them worthy winners.
Under 18s | Lost 14-27
The first team played well in the first half against a strong Maynard side (half time score 10-13). Various combinations were again tried out in preparation for the County tournament. Billie was outstanding in attack feeding some excellent balls into the shooting circle. Truro could not maintain their form in the second half and Maynard extended their lead. Mollie was voted player of the match.

Penryn Sports Partnership Games vs Penryn College

Under 12s | Lost 4-11
The main focus for the girls for this match was to ensure that they had two people offering for the ball. At times we hid behind our opposition which resulted in them making a considerable amount of interceptions and therefore didn’t achieve our goal of the two options. Penryn were a strong side and were able to get themselves into strong shooting positions under the post as we were unable to effectively defend them. However the girls gave 100% and as they are not currently in their netball term their potential to develop is vast.
Under 13s | Won 9-4
A much improved performance from the Under 13s. New comer Scarlett played extremely well and is going to be a great addition to the squad. There was some good passing and the girls fought hard.
Under 14 | Lost 12-14
The Under 14s took control of this game from the beginning leading 7 – 5 at half time. There were some super phases of play but at times we got very muddled and shared spaces, which Penryn took advantage of. Harriet shot well and Zoe and Victoria played well in centre court. Grace made some super interceptions in defence with Rebecca dominating the defensive circle. Truro led going into the last 2 minutes but Penryn put up a huge counterattack which left our girls speechless. A disappointing loss. Daisy was voted player of the match.
Under 15s | Lost 13-19
The girls let Penryn dominate from the first whistle and really didn’t get into the game. It wasn’t until the last quarter when they played with the skills they have they made any impact.
Under 16s | Won 28-3
The Under 16s stormed into the lead after the first quarter with some great movement, interceptions and shooting. With a large lead defined the team worked on driving forward and remaining disciplined with very few technicalities called against them. A very strong, focused and well deserved win.
