Netball Summary – Week Beginning Monday 14 September

Under 15 National Sport Magazine Cup

Under 15s vs Torquay Girls’ Grammar School | Won 37-16
After travelling for 2 hours the Under 15s put in an excellent performance in their first match of the new term. Truro dominated with all 11 squad players getting plenty of court time. Alice playing at GA was outstanding scoring 30 of our 37 goals and scoring 30/35 herself. Emily also held the team together, making many interceptions and superb feeds into the circle.

Fixtures vs Truro High School

Under 12s | Lost 3-15
In their first match ever together the first years were a little shocked by a very strong High School team. Truro did not really get going until the second quarter. Lots of different combinations were tried allowing many pupils to be involved.
Under 13s | Lost 8-9
This was a highly contested game, the girls made numerous turnovers but didn’t capitalise on them. Their movement down the court was positive with changes of direction. The girls were unlucky not to get a draw.
Under 14s | Won 13-3
The opening game of the season saw some new players join the squad. Harriet and Victoria settled quickly and showed what they are capable of. Daisy and Zoe were dominant in centre court whilst Grace and Rebecca performed superbly in defence. A great win to start the season off. Player of the match was Daisy.
Under 15s | Won 18-5
The Under 15s put in an excellent performance winning 18-5, after the first quarter they were leading 7-0. This allowed them to take the opportunity to practice different formations at the centre pass in order to gain a better understanding of the options for the second ball instead of undertaking the same centre pass. This will help them to adapt in pressured situations when they may find themselves against stronger opposition.
Under 16s | Won 25-11
The Under 16s put in an excellent performance winning 25-11. After the first quarter the team were ahead by 2 goals which meant the team worked her on their position, passing and movement. By half time the girls were ahead by 8 ending with a strong win of 14 goals. The team had the opportunity to try out different positions with success. Driving forward and placing the correct pass improved greatly making the team stronger for the next fixture.

Fixtures vs Millfield

Under 18s | Lost 22-24
In their first proper fixture the newly formed first team put on a promising display. Various different combinations were tried out, Millfield leading by 1 goal at half time. With an exceptional third quarter Truro led 18-15 going into the last. Unfortunately our fitness told in the last quarter, Millfield were determined and Truro lost by 2.
Under 16s | Won 34-17
With a new look line up for Truro the players were a little apprehensive going out on court but they performed with focus and maturity in all of the different playing combinations tried out. Excellent defending by Natasha, Beth and Jas saw school win many turnovers which were converted to goal by Savvy and Amy. An overall pleasing performance by all the players today.
