Netball Match Reports – Week beginning Monday 14 March

Under 12A vs Penrice Won 19-8

Even though Truro won the game with comparative ease it wasn’t their best performance. Players stood behind their opponents and didn’t drive to meet the ball. Fortunately the few good passages of play they had were converted to goals.  The defence intercepted a lot of ball and played an important factor in the win.

Under 12B vs Penrice Won 8-5

The game was a hard fought win for Truro Under 12 B squad. They started off well with some good passing and interceptions from Katie and Milli, and good resilience from Anna. The attack worked hard to win the first quarter 2 -0. The second quarter saw Penrice defend hard resulting in a drawn quarter. However Truro came out strong with better movement, getting in front of their players and ensuring their passing was accurate. Ayla worked well as WA and Millie paired nicely with Ellie in the circle to win 4-2. The final quarter saw the Truro school take the lead with excellent play all round. Interceptions from Sophie allowed Ellie to help feed the attack. The girls worked very hard to increase their lead winning the game 8-5.

Under 13A vs Penrice Won 49-8

An excellent performance by the Under 13s in preparation for Fridays County tournament. The whole squad performed very well in whatever combination we tried. Elinor fed the circle fantastically, seeing the second mover. In the last quarter Rosie playing at GA made lots of turnovers, being voted player of the match by the opposition. A fantastic team performance.

Under 13B vs Penrice Won 21-3

The squad were well drilled and dominated from the start. They passed the ball really well down the court and displayed excellent teamwork. The final score was 21 – 3.

Poppy was voted player of the match.

Under 15 vs Penrice Won 29-14

This was our last fixture of the season and the squad wanted to finish the season with a clean slate. A strong start, scoring off Penrice’s centre pass and then their own. With some super defending by Charlotte , Sophie  and Ailsa, saw the opposition under pressure in their attacking third and saw Truro up by 20 – 7 at half time. The team struggled a little with the tall defence of Penrice but persevered and with accurate passing into the circle by Amy and Aabha, saw the final score at 29-14. A super end to a very successful season, well done.

Under 13 County Netball Tournament

On a beautiful spring day the Under 13s travelled to Camborne for their County tournament. They played some exceptional netball with all 12 squad players getting lots of court time. Truro were incredibly unlucky not to win their section, losing by just one goal to Truro High School 5-6 under very difficult circumstances (the less said the better). Truro went on to win all of the rest of their games throughout the day but due to the structure of the tournament could only come at best 6th, due to their one loss. Truro rallied well and with score lines of 17- 0 (Newquay Treviglas), 12 – 3 (Wadebridge), 17-0 (St Ives), 17-0 (Pool), 13-2 (Richard Lander), 8-3 (Bude) and 9-1 (Newquay Tretherras) displayed their dominance. All squad players must be congratulated by playing with dignity and respect, this tournament will make them stronger for the U14 tournament next season. Their behaviour and conduct was exemplary.
