Congratulations to the fourteen Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth students who represented Nepal, Georgia, Russia, Germany (and of course, Truro School) at the Model United Nations Conference at Exeter School on 4 December 2013.
106 delegates from schools around the South West debated issues at the committee stage, such as the role of the UN in conflict resolution, the right of the Kurdish people to their own homeland, human trafficking, oil drilling in the Arctic and the illicit traffic in small arms.
Of particular note was Georgia, winning an esteemed Distinguished Delegation Award and Dare, Nini, Megan, Luke and Marina all picking up individual awards.
Jane Rainbow, Co-Head of Sixth Form, said: “When the General Assembly met, it was extremely pleasing to see both Megan and Luke speak with such self-assurance in front of so large an audience. Fantastic work, everyone.”
