Week beginning Monday 1 May:
Under 12 vs Polwhele
Won 16 ½ – 12 ½
In their first rounders match for Truro School the Under 12’s made a good start. Truro won the toss and opted to field first; they demonstrated some good skills with some consistent bowling from Caitlin. Polwhele scored 6 ½ rounders. Truro had a great first batting innings scoring 9 ½ rounders; with steady batting from Caitlin, Maya and Leyla. Polwhele scored 6 rounders in the second innings, however they were tighter in the field and Truro scored 7. A good first win, with great catches from Evie and Evelyn and fine batting from Evie and Heidi in the second innings.
Under 12 Vs Truro High School
The Under 12’s faced their closest rivals, Truro High School, last Thursday. Having won the toss the girls choose to field first and with Stacey bowling they got off to a good start catching or stumping four players out and despite some strong High School batting allowing just eight rounders to be scored. In their first batting innings the team struggled to make contact and deal with the fast pace bowling that was coming at them and scored just four and a half rounders. The High School were on good form and caught or stumped a massive six of the ten players out. The second innings were much the same with both teams doubling their number of rounders scored. The end result sixteen – nine to the High School. With no matches this coming week the girls need to work on watching the ball and anticipating their run, bowling consistently with fewer no balls and covering the basis whilst fielding. We look forward to playing Penair next Thursday.
Under 13 vs Truro High School
The girls put in a strong batting performance running well on no balls to maximise the scoring.
Elizabeth Straw and Milli Yoki were the top scorers and there was some superb fielding resulting in several of the opposition being out in both innings.
Under 14 vs Truro High School
Won 12 ½ – 5 ½
An excellent performance by the Under 14’s both whilst batting and fielding. Nila took a good catch and Milly caught and stumped twice getting 4 people out. Top scorers were Rosie (2 ½) and Elinor (3).
Under 15 vs Truro High School
Won 13 – 7 ½
With a few changes to the starting team and movements with positions the girls still started with motivation and determination to win the game. Deciding to bat first the girls hit the balls with power but it often found the fielding team. The second innings the team gained more rounders by keeping the power of the hit when they made contact but placed the balls in areas the fielding team weren’t in. Both innings they fielded well, making the correct throw and backing each other up where needed. Great team performance.
Well Done Girls!
