Malvern – A Trip to the Cinema

As ever it has been a very busy week in boarding but one of the highlights, certainly within the week itself, was the return of an old friend – Clara Goerdes from Germany.  Clara spent many months with us last year in Malvern House so it was really lovely to welcome her back for a few days.  Toni Fusch also invited another friend over from Germany – Christina Menke, who had a trial week with us to see if English boarding school life suited her.  It was sad to see them both leave at the end of the week.

Saturday however, was back to reality with all hands on deck for the school’s Open Day.  Virtually all of the girls helped out with either boarding or within their specialist departments.  It was great to see Hannah in Drama, Anna in the French Café, Maria in Business Studies and Benny as ever on boarding.  The band was playing in the quad and for at least some of the time the sun was shining.  A lot of people attended and hopefully they all had a good visit to our lovely school.  In the evening it was a cinema trip that took everyone’s fancy, so down to town we went in order to watch Brad Pitt in ‘Fury’!

On Sunday we put our best clothes on and attended our Remembrance Service in the Chapel.  Many girls and boys from various nationalities were involved in what was a really cosmopolitan event.  Special thanks however, must go to Agne and Ankie who placed crosses on the alter, in memory of those men and women who gave their lives for their countries in the various wars over the last 100 years, and to Benny who read a very heartfelt and moving prayer.

On Sunday afternoon the senior girls were offered the chance to enjoy a Bollywood style Hula Hoop Dancing lesson, but perhaps not surprisingly most opted to catch up with their studies or chill out with a Sunday afternoon film. Another busy but interesting week in Malvern house!
