As November draws to a close we have very much started to think about Christmas in the house. Next weekend, all of the boarding community are going to have a stall at the school Christmas Fair, selling items they have made to raise money for a local charity. The girls in Malvern have therefore been hard at work all week making jewellery, with the prize for most items produced going to Maria; she has made some beautiful bracelets and earrings that will hopefully raise lots of money for a good cause.
The main highlight of this week has been the school production of the musical Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Most of the girls have been to see it and have thought that it was absolutely wonderful (if a little bit gory!). Huge congratulations to the three Malvern girls who have been involved in it: Nancy who has sung beautifully in the chorus; Charlotte who has played her cello in the orchestra; and Benny who has helped with the performers’ make-up each evening. We are very proud of them all and hope that they enjoyed their well-earned lie-in on Sunday!
On Saturday we decided to go to Plymouth to take advantage of the sales still going on after Black Friday. Unfortunately, engineering works on the railway line meant that it took longer than usual to get there, but the girls still had a good few hours in which to eat sushi and Thai food, and to spend their money – some of you will be getting lovely Christmas presents! In the evening, Nini and Beccy went into town for a meal to celebrate their friends’ birthdays while the rest of the girls relaxed in the house.
Today, some of the girls have joined in with some inter-house water polo in the school pool, while the rest have finished their homework and caught up on some much needed rest. All in all, it’s been a lovely weekend and has left us raring to throw ourselves into December!
