As we prepare to begin the last week of this half term, we can look back at a beautiful, spring weekend. After a few flakes of snow earlier in the week, the sun has shone and the spring flowers are beginning to bloom. Keen to get out of doors to enjoy this, some of our girls accompanied the Poltisco boarders on a shopping trip to Plymouth on Saturday. Penelope helped Miss Hargreaves and Chloe and Nicolette to stock up on some Chinese provisions in preparation for Sunday’s Chinese New Year celebrations, but all of the girls also found time to browse in the clothes shops and perhaps treat themselves too! In the evening, some of our other girls went down to the cinema in Truro to watch the Stephen Hawking bio-pic The Theory of Everything. I think that pretty much everyone in the house has seen the film now and not a single person has anything bad to say about it.
After our ritual lie in and brunch on Sunday morning, some of the girls helped Miss Hargreaves and our Chinese boarders to decorate the school dining hall in preparation for our New Year feast in the evening. The room looked absolutely brilliant and everyone was awe-inspired by the Chinese calligraphy on show. After learning all about the New Year festival from Heng, one of the boys from Trennick, we all tucked into a real oriental feast and wished each other “Gong Xi Fa Cai!” as we do to you and your families. You can see some photos from our weekend here.
