We have very nearly made it to the end of term, and as Malvern House is decked out with Christmas trees and tinsels we’re all starting to feel pretty festive! I’m sure that Alysia is the exception to that, as she is currently in Tenerife on the school’s annual Geology fieldwork trip, where temperatures are well in the 20s, but we’re looking forward to welcoming her back to Truro on Tuesday.
The rest of the girls have been getting into the Christmas spirit by attending the Sixth Form Christmas Ball, which was held at the Alverton Hotel last Wednesday.
On Friday, it was the school Christmas Fair and Christmas Concert. Beth helped to run Cove Clothing’s Young Enterprise stall at the Fair (the company have turned over £1,000 in just two events!), and then Sasha was performing in the concert. The rest of the boarding house went to the Eden Project for an evening of ice skating. Yuki came back pretty tired, but otherwise I’m very happy to report that there were no injuries!
On Saturday, the girls enjoyed a lie in, and then a relaxing day of shopping, packing, and film watching. In the evening a large group of boarders from Malvern and Trennick houses went out for dinner to the Zen Noodle Bar in town, to mark Julia’s last weekend in Truro. It has been such an absolute pleasure to have Julia at Truro School and in boarding and we will miss her very much next term, but hope that she stays in touch and comes back to visit us all.
On Sunday it was the boarders’ annual Christmas party! This started with a service in the School Chapel at 5:30pm and then moved into the dining hall for Christmas dinner, speeches, awards and a disco.
Mrs Murphy and I wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and a wonderful new year, and look forward to welcoming your daughters back to Malvern in 2016.
