Truro Fencers bring home the gold from the UK Schools Games

Truro School fencers win more gold medals than Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland put together at the UK Schools Games.

And we’re off! After intense pre-season training both in Truro and in Italy our fencers have started the season off with multiple podium finishes at the UK Schools Games.
In the women’s sabre Caitlin Maxwell clinched gold in the tightest of margins against team mate, Maria Chart, in a nail biting 15-14 fight. The girls too went on to take the gold medal whilst competing for England in the team event.
In the men’s sabre Jamie Craze cruised to victory with Nick Howes in 5th place. Following suit, the boys also went on to replicate the girl’s success by taking gold medal for England in the men’s team sabre event. A smashing start as we enter the all-important domestic competitions of the season.
