Students prepare for City of Lights

We have been busy counting down the days to the City of Lights parade.

We have been getting ready for this year’s City of Lights with a lantern workshop to start the build of our large lantern. This was followed by another workshop for the Art scholars and Prep School pupils led by visiting artist Amanda Lorens.

This year’s parade will take place on Wednesday 21 November with the theme ‘Remember’.

Speaking about the theme Art teacher Miss Joines said,

“We are interpreting this as remembering the costs and benefits of World War One. The sacrifices others made in order for us to have the life we have now and celebrating the importance of peace and freedom.”

Lower Sixth student Ella Williams created a beautiful design for the large lantern angel, which will be accompanied by the Prep Schools smaller flock of dove lanterns.

All of the students are looking forward to displaying their hard work in the Lantern Parade.
